Diode maker Eris Technology is poised to obtain from Lite-On Semiconductor automotive diode production equipment which has been acquired by Eris' largest shareholder Diodes, and will gain orders shifted from Lite-On Semi. The orders will start making a solid contribution to Eris' revenue in the third quarter of 2021, according to the Taiwan-based company.

Eris will also continue working towards fully automated production, which will help accelerate product validations for automotive applications, said company chairman Jonathan Chang. Eris is eyeing a bigger presence in the automotive sector this year, Chang added.

Meanwhile, Eris will see its wafer manufacturing costs decline substantially in 2021, as subsidiary Yea-Shin Technology moves its newly-developed 5-inch GPP (glass passivation pellet) manufacturing technology to volume production. Eris is optimistic about its margin and profit performance between the end of this year and early 2022, Chang said.

Eris reported consolidated revenue grew 8% sequentially and 29% on year to a record high of NT$156 million (US$5.58 million) in January 2021. The company credited the positive performance to demand for high-end servers supporting remote work and other online activities, as well as demand for notebooks, handsets and other consumer technology products.
