Taiwan's scooter market declined in February 2026 due to the Lunar New Year holiday, with fewer working days for vehicle registration. Total monthly sales dropped to 44,817 units in February, down 22.55% from the previous month's 57,867 units and 24.37% lower than the 59,258 units recorded in February 2025.
Within this slowing environment, electric scooter sales fell 21.51% month-over-month to 2,149 units in February from 2,738 units in January. However, Gogoro demonstrated relative resilience by increasing its brand competitiveness during the downturn. The company registered 1,510 new vehicles in February, raising its market share from 2.91% in January to 3.37%, with a monthly unit growth of 15.81%, outperforming the broader market.
In terms of product performance, the Gogoro Ezzy has held the top spot in electric scooter sales for eight consecutive months. Gogoro also dominated the top four "white-plate" electric scooter models (125cc-class), led by the Gogoro Viva MIX, followed by the Gogoro Ezzy 500, Gogoro Delight, and Gogoro Viva XL.
Recently, Gogoro enhanced its brand presence through strategic partnerships. On March 3, it announced a collaboration with Pixar's Toy Story franchise to launch a limited-edition Gogoro Ezzy 500 model. This scooter features a 5.5kW "white-plate" motor and dual-battery system, targeting daily commuting, family transport, and weekend shopping scenarios.
Regarding its entry-level lineup, Gogoro CEO Henry Chiang stated that these models constitute a significant portion of the product range, primarily appealing to family customers. In contrast, flagship models mainly attract consumers under 25 years of age.
Analyzing market trends from 2022 to 2025, entry-level scooters increased their market share by 4.5%, while flagship models among those under 25 grew by 3%. Female representation in midrange to high-end scooter segments also continued rising. To address this trend, Gogoro plans to introduce a new midrange to high-end female-focused model in 2026.
Chiang pointed out that 2026 will be a pivotal year marking the second cycle of Gogoro's product line development. Besides continuing co-branded releases, the company will unveil new midrange to high-end touring scooters in June and launch a Vietnam-exclusive model in the fourth quarter of 2026 to strengthen regional market penetration.
In Taiwan's overall scooter market, SYM maintained leadership in February with 19,195 units sold and a 42.8% market share, followed by KYMCO at 11,376 units (25.4%), Yamaha at 9,648 units (21.5%), and Gogoro at 1,510 units (3.4%).
For cumulative sales in January–February 2026, SYM led with 44,162 units (43%), KYMCO followed with 25,566 units (24.9%), Yamaha ranked third with 22,702 units (22.1%), and Gogoro held fourth place with 3,192 units (3.1%). The total market volume reached 102,688 units.
